Description:
Every year since 1992, the Sighiºoara Citadel lives its past through the Medieval Festival. On the narrow streets, under the aged walls, knights, clowns, monks and wizards appear, coming from a world where the fabulous and the awful live together, harbouring the fear, but also the inclination for adventure. At each edition of the Festival, the middle ages was not anymore either haphazard, either dark, either belonging to the past. After hundreds of years the festival had the opportunity to bring back the more human and more eternal thing: ART. Trying to revive an age that seems to have declined forever, the “Medieval Sighiºoara” Festival proposes to retain an instant from the present that has to be lived in a middle ages decor and in troubadour songs ignoring the ephemeral state of our transition in this world. The importance of this event is the bridge of communication realised through the art: songs, games, theatre, dance and the diversity of culture communication forms, the multicultural specific nature of Sighisoara.
The Festival brings together every year more than 30,000 visitors from the country and from all over the world, attracted by the citadel’s charm, but also by the atmosphere created by the organisers in the genuine decor offered by the medieval citadel. In 2007 the festival will have its 15th edition.
Together with all the people who love the spirit of the middle ages and who will come again every year to Sighiºoara, at the end of July, we will enjoy the fairytale that will live in the Citadel for three days.

Contacts: emesekarda@ccentre.ro. Web: http://www.musica-antiqua-hr.ro/
Description: The Ancient Music Festival has always been considered as being receptive and open. For some years, the festival - in any respect a real Sekler, or even Miercurea Ciuc event - has been in a position to lift the limits which were imposed by the international isolation before 1989 or which were set up by the festival itself as means of self-defense against these adverse political circumstances.
In the last few years, this state of relief has been slowly achieved and - along with Hungary and Romania opening up towards Europe - the Miercurea Ciuc Ancient Music Festival has become a significant musical forum in the Carpathian Basin. A more spectacular and audacious or even a risky step further has been taken in 2006 since the festival addresses to forces from a larger area: significant ancient music workshops from France, United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic and Italy are invited to Miercurea Ciuc.
