1. THE FESTIVAL OF THE ETHNIC COMMUNITIES

Date: June, 2007
Organizers: Braila County Council and the County Centre for the Preservation and the Promotion of the Traditional Culture.
Partners: The ethnic communities from Romania.
Location: The Youth House, situated on Calarasi Boulevard, in the centre of the city. Another place supposed to be used is the Danube's esplanade. The visitors can reach here using all means of transport, tram, buses (Number 4 and 10).

2. „Galaţi Cup ” Dance Contest

Date: June, 3rd 2007
Location: Galaţi, Galaţi Rink
Description: The event intends to include the town of Galaţi in the national and international circuit of this sort of events.
Precedent editions brought in Galati participants from Romania (especially from the National School in Reghin) and the Low Danube Euro region (Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova)

3. Light Music Festival “Ritmuri in mileniul III” (“Rhythms of in the 3rd Millennium”), IX edition

The festival is for the young light music singers from our region and our country.
It is a manifestation-competition where all the best will be rewarded with different prizes.

4. “Folk Craftsmen Fair” (the program “Land and Soul”)

Date: 16th to 18th of June 2007
Location: Galaţi, Gold Horseshoe Complex and Danube Cliff
Description: The event intends to include the town of Galaţi in the national and international circuit of this sort of events.
Craftsmen from all over Romania participated in the precedent editions of the event, from Maramureş, Ardeal, Bucovina, Moldova, Muntenia, Dobrogea, Oltenia, Banat, and also from Basarabia.

5. „COCOSUL DE HUREZ” (HUREZ COCK) – Romanian Popular Pottery Fair

6. “Vrancea’s Treasure” interpretation festival

- It is an interregional festival, organized every year on the 29th of June. In 2007, the 27th edition will be organized.
- It will take place in Naruja, 70 km away from Focşani, situated on Putna and Zabala rivers valleys in the ancient Vrancea, which preserves very valuable traditions and customs, being reachable by DN 2D and DJ 205D.
- The festival regards young folk music interprets who contest at the following sections:
  • instrumental soloists
  • vocal groups
  • instrumental groups
- For each section three prizes and three honorable mentions will be awarded. The main prize will be awarded, separately from the other prizes.
- Festival’s objectives: preserving and promoting the local traditional musical repertoire. Promoting folk music young talents between 12-35 years old.

7. Folk choir festival “Pe plaiul Tojanului” interregional festival

- The festival takes place in the last Sunday from July. In 2007 there will be a 40th edition of this event.
- Location – Paltin, situated on Putna and Zabala rivers valleys; the access is made by DN 2N, DJ 205D, 84 km away from Focşani.
Description: traditional festival of traditional folk choirs, with regional character, which promotes authentic choreographic arts, traditions and customs which can be found in regional folk dances and songs. Objectives: preserving and promoting the local traditional musical repertoire and also promoting young talents between 12-35 years old. Two prizes will be awarded, by age categories:
  • children choirs with stuff aged between 10-16 years
  • adult and young choirs with stuff aged between 18 – 80 years
- Every year there come almost 350 participants organized in 12-16 choirs.

8. “Sânziene” Customs

24 JUNE 2007
From Baia Mare take E58 and then make a right turn on DJ108 until Arinis village and make another right turn towards Baita de sub Codru.
From Baia Mare take DN18 towards Sighetu Marmatiei. In Vadu Izei village make a right turn on DJ186 towards Borsa.
Sanzienele mark the summer solstice and the beginning of this year’s field’s work (cutting the hay). Young girls pick up yellow flowers and put them above their doorways; tradition says that the “Sânziene” (fairies who live on the fields) get angry if they are not celebrated. 9. PREJMER FESTIVE DAYS 29 JUNE - 01 JULY 2007

The Prejmer Christian community is formed by people of various religious beliefs -Orthodox, Gospel and Catholic. Apostles Peter and Paul are common for all beliefs also they are the patrons of the Prejmer Orthodox Church. This was the reason for Prejmer Local Counsel to make a statement in 2005, at the initiative of Orthodox priest Serban Sorin: 29 JUNE is Prejmer Festive day.
This event intend to:
- Make local community aware of the importance of preserving and promoting the local cultural patrimony;
- Involve local people in cultural and sportive activities;
- Promote local products.

10. Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF)

Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) is presented by Romanian Film Promotion. It is the first international feature film festival in Romania and one of the most important film festivals in Eastern Europe.
TIFF has as its main objective the promotion of cinematographic art by presenting some of the most innovative and spectacular films of the moment that feature both originality and independence of expression, that reflect unusual cinematic language forms or focus on current trends in youth culture.
The Festival main sections are: Competition, offering a significant selection of current international young cinema. SuperNova is a non-competitive panorama, including films which aroused exceptional world interest during the last season and Romanian Days, a 3-day marathon including the most recent Romanian productions.
Among the special guests of TIFF's during 2001-2006 we can mention: Canadian actor Jason Priestley (well-known from the famous serial Beverly Hills 90210) the British director Michael Radford, (Oscar in 1994 for Il Postino), screenwriter and novelist Barry Gifford (the screenwriter of “Lost Highway” directed by David Lynch or co-writer of “City of ghost” directed by Matt Dillon), French actress Julie Delpy (present in Cluj in 2004 with her latest film “Before Sunset) French actress Annie Girardot (well-known to the public for the movies like: “Rocco and His Brothers”, directed by Luchino Visconti, “Mourir d’aimer’’etc.) and in 2006 British actress Vanessa Redgrave (Oscar for best actress in 1978, best actress in Cannes in 1968).

11 “Fanfares festival” (Festivalul fanfarelor), the IIIrd edition

June 2007
The festival’s aim is to promote and to assure the continuity of the fanfare’s music, which is representative for Vaslui County. The county’s communes fanfares will participate on this event and it aims the preparation of a quality repertory for these bands to be able to represent the county and the country. Also, it is a way for finding and forming new generations of brass bands.

12. The festival “Calusul ca pe Vlasca” (Calusul like we do it in Vlasca)

Description:
The purpose of the festival is to revitalise one of the oldest folkloric manifestations with spectacular character from the Giurgiu County and to present the value of this custom with its components: music, dance and theatre.

13. The National Contest Festival "Romanian Calus ” - June , is organised of the „Rusalii” celebrations , having as participants groups of „calus” dancers, „caiuti” and „caluseri” from all the country.

The festival place is town Caracal , for the adult people dancers in the south part of Olt county, situated at 60 km from Slatina, on DN 54, and Slatina municipality situated on E 60 at 200 km from Bucharest for the children dancers.
The most attractive part of the festival is the Popular Clothing Parade and the demonstrative games , being annually the center of attraction for many people.
The accomodations places in the area : environ 400 places in hotels and agro-touristic pensions, restaurants with local specific and italian specific , bars and coffee bars. From the local gastronomy it is recommended to taste: force-meat rolls in cabbage or in vine leaves, pickled chicken, in this region the pickled chicken is a soup with grilled chicken, chicken white sauce stew with polenta , tomatos filled with meat or rice, oltenian goulash, higly seasoned forcemeat small, small pig at griddle, pickled fish, force-meat rolls grilled , stew made with pork meat, mushrooms, sausages and garlic, with specific local white and red wines. They are appreciated the acidulated broths with pickled cabbage or tomato juice. The tripe soup is favourite with horseradish and vinegar , without garlic. 14.The potters fair of Bals town

June
This local event is organized in Bals , a small town situated between Slatina and Craiova, on E60 .
At this fair are participating the most famous potters with beautiful pottery objects from the Oboga area and from all the Romania.
The accomodations places in the area : environ 100 places in hotels, motels and agro-touristic pensions, restaurants with local specific, bars and coffee bars.
From the local gastronomy it is recommended to taste : force-meat rolls in cabbage or in vine leaves, pickled chicken, in this region the pickled chicken is a soup with grilled chicken, chicken white sauce stew with polenta , tomatos filled with meat or rice, oltenian goulash, higly seasoned forcemeat small , small pig at griddle, pickled fish, force-meat rolls grilled , stew made with pork meat, mushrooms, sausages and garlic, with specific local white and red wines. 16. “Serbarile Resitei” (“Resita Fest”) - The Celebration of the Spiritual Patrons Petru and Pavel (St. Peter and St. Paul)

The Celebration has complex manifestations where are invited to participate folkloric ensembles from our district and abroad. On this occasion it is also organized an artisans market and the sales of the traditional products – popular art and cookery.

17. The national Traditional Ceramics Fair "Cucuteni-5000", 2007 – the XXV-th edition

This manifestation deals with knowing and valueing the traditional ceramics, as well as making permanent the artistic dimensions emphasized by the most well known pottery centers in Romania and Moldavia Republic. The Iasi Fair is considered by the specialists, as well as by the popular artisans to be the most important in Romania. At this year's edition , the fair will gather in Copou park, for three days, the most representatives pottery artisans from these centers: Dorohoi - Botosani; Binis - Caras-Severin; Branistea - Galati; Corund si Miercurea Ciuc - Harghita; Obârsa - Hunedoara; Schitu Stavnic - Voinesti, Iasi; Baia Mare - Maramures; Oboga si Vadastra - Olt; Marginea si Radauti - Suceava; Jupânesti - Timis; Lungesti si Horezu - Vâlcea, as well as from Moldavia Republic.
The fair is visited every day by over five thousand people from Iasi, and other districts, as well as by numerous tourists from abroad. At the fair two big prizes are awarded "Toader Nica" for utilitar ceramics and "Ion Diaconu" for artistical ceramics – in memoriam of two pottery artists from iasi who activated in the pottery centers from Deleni and Tansa.
