1. THE POTTERS’ FAIR - 40TH EDITION

Description: The Fair is one of the most prestigious events of the town, and was created to preserve and perpetuate the culture and value of traditional ceramics. The goal of the event is to present the evolution and the preoccupations of the potters and ceramics craftsmen, as well as the new features of the pottery schools in Romania. We must mention schools like Horezu, Vladesti, Oboga, Slatina, Baia Mare, Radauti, Marginea, Neamt, Hunedoara, Corund, Caras-Severin, Bihor etc and Sibiu. Craftsmen from all the regions in Romania come to this fair to present and sell specific products such as earthen pots, wooden spoons and dishes, wooden sculptures etc which are a living proof of the craftsmen’s talent and dedication to traditional art.
Craftsmen get dressed in traditional costumes and the whole fair is a tribute offered to Romanian tradition. The organizers wish to encourage the artistic spirit of the new generation and to keep and revitalize the process of production and exchange of authentic values of traditional art from all over the country.
The organizers will grant diplomas of excellence which will confirm or consecrate both the elders and the young and stimulate the perpetuation of this ancestral craft. These diplomas are a true “visit card” which will certify the value and the authenticity of each potter and artisan, recommending them to future similar manifestations, organized in the entire country.

2. THE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL IN CONSTANTA

Date: September, 2007 – 3rd edition
Location: Constanta County, Constanta City
Every first week in September, this festival brings together many famous national and international producers in its two sections: short film and movie. This event is organized by Constanta County Council and the Artis Foundation, in cooperation with the National Centre for Cinema and the European Movie Academy. The movies were watched in all the four halls of the Glandale multiplex cinema in Tomis Mall. This cinema has 700 seats and a high standards sound system. Another host for the film festival was Tomis Summer Theatre.

3. MAMAIA POP-MUSIC FESTIVAL

Date: September 2007
Location: Mamaia resort, Summer Garden – Northen part of Constanta City
This festival has a long tradition and is organized yearly, in the first days of September. It has three sections: performing, creation and songs (pop, pop-rock, dance and ethno-dance).
This event is broadcasted live on the National Television. It has a high budget (provided by its organizer Constanta County Council) and brings together the most important pop-music composers and artists. This Festival is considered to be one of the biggest cultural events in the country.
This festival is named after the resort of Mamaia, which is considered “the pearl of the Romanian coast”. The beach of Mamaia resort has a length of 7 km and a width of 100-200 m, fine sand and the sun shines 10-12 hours/day. Near this resort there is a Holiday Center. This is a place that comprises traditions from all 40 Romanian counties. All the restaurants serve traditional dishes and fish. Other attraction points in Mamaia are: sailing on the Siutghiol Lake, swimming-pools, gardens, parks, cabarets, tele-gondola, Aqua Magic.

4. THE FOLK ARTISANS FAIR

Period : This event takes place yearly between the 6th and the 8th of September
Location: Targoviste, Dambovita county
Description of the project: Gathered in Targoviste, the folk artists from all the country present their merchandises manufactured in a traditional way. At the same time they perform live demonstrations in front of the public in order to present the work of their hands, unique products made of ceramics, wood, cloths, and forged iron. Also they paint icons on wood or glass and make pieces of willow knitting.

5. CHEESE AND BRANDY FESTIVAL

Duration: 8 - 9th of September 2007
Description: The cheese & brandy are typical regional products. Villages as Rasinari, Poiana, Jina and Saliste are well-known for their “lamb growing” traditions.
“Regional specialties made from local products – cheese & brandy for the gourmands”, this is the motto of the festival. The participants offer regional specialties listed in a separate menu, with an accent and focus on cheese and brandy products with a local origin. The note of origin of the products will be mentioned and the participants will guarantee for them.
The tourists and the visitors have the opportunity to see, taste or eat local products and local gastronomy surrounded by a unique landscape. They also have the opportunity to see how local dishes are being made, to listen to folk music and to see folk shows.

- Bringing an improvement to the regional tourism by including the regional culinary products in this festival.
- Bringing in attention the profile of the local gastronomy by promoting the regional products.
- A higher level of the local economy.
- Growing the number of the nights/tourist in the region of Sibiu.

The „Cheese and brandy festival” promotes the offer of our entire region. There are many producers in this area that is why this festival will boost economy and promote local products at the same time.

6. THE FOLKLORE FESTIVAL OF THE NATIONALITIES

Period and location: the festival takes place in the 9th September 2007 in Bogdand locality
Access: By car, on the route Satu Mare – Supur E81, Supur – Bogdand DJ 196, 42 km away from Satu Mare municipality.
Description of the event: The festival promotes the traditional cultural values of the national minorities which live in Satu Mare county.
The organizers of this event: The County Centre for Preservation and Valorization of Traditional Culture from Satu Mare, telephone 00400261768975; Satu Mare County Council, Bogdand Mayoralty.
Other touristic objective in the same area: The Fortress from Ardud (XV-th Century), The Wooden church from Corund, The Hungarian Museum from Bogdand.

7. INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF MUSIC FOR CHILDREN „PITIGOI’S BAND”, 6th edition

Date: September 14th to 17th 2007
Location: Galati, Dramatic Theatre „Fani Tardini”
Description:
The event is meant to promote young, talented children and to include the town of Galati in the national and international circuit of this sort of events.
Artists from Canada, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova have attended the precedent editions of the event.

8. “CASCAVEA” FESTIVAL

Date of organization: 16 -17 September 2007
Location: Doftana Valley Parish, Prahova County
Approaches:
Doftana Valley Parish is situated at the crossroads of DJ 102 I (county road) Campina-Brasov with DJ 102 A, which by the two components: DJ 101 S Comarnic-Secaria-Doftana Valley and DJ 101 T Doftana Valley-Bertea-Slanic connects Doftana Valley and Teleajen Valley.
Description:
Cascavea Festival is a rustic party where the authentic producers present their products and fill the wooden tables and the flowered towels counters with “cascavea” (a variety of smoked cheese whose recipe is known only by the inhabitants), cottage-cheese, soft cottage cheese, egg-cheese chunk, grills of mutton salt meat, grilled minced meat rolls, corn mush boiled in clay cast-iron kettles, snack jars, but also with traditional wines and plum brandy. In addition to the astounding flavors and fiddlers, the “cascavea” is celebrated with the professional contest of the dairy producers and the top of the most beautiful cows. This contest of bovine beauty is one of the festival’s attractions.

9. THE FESTIVAL OF POPULAR TRADITIONS

The festival involves complex expressions, The Fair of Popular Artisans - the 30th edition, the pavilion exhibition “Oltenian Potery between history and evolution”, folkloric performances sustained by groups of professionals and amateurs from Oltenia and from all over the country, other groups of pupils and pre-schools from the city and the county, suites of Romanian traditional costumes, the week of Oltenian cuisine and wine, as well as scientific demonstrations consecrated to the values of Oltenian ethno-cultural patrimony, meaning a session of dissertations, round tables, competitions on ethnographic themes.
The national character of this reunion of Romanian talent and spirit will be accomplished by an international participation through the presence of some popular artisans and folkloric groups from Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, The Republic of Moldavia, Greece, Italy.

Location: Craiova, in the open air, on The National Theatre esplanade and stage, on the other schools and secondary - schools stages in Craiova, in the “Romanescu” Nature Reservation, on the streets and markets of Craiova.

10. “THE CHESTNUT FESTIVAL”

Rivers of wine, grape-must and beer flow in the town centre; numerous parties; and on this special occasion, the capital city of Maramures reveals its precious “treasure” of sweet chestnuts.

11. “SINAIA FOREVER” FESTIVAL

Date of organization: 28 - 30 September 2007
Location: Sinaia, Prahova County
Approaches: Sinaia is about 123 km of Bucharest, 106 km of Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport and 50 km south of Brasov. The altitude of the town varies between 767 m and 860 m.The mountain resort is located along DN1 (Highway); quick and easy access to the city centre from the railway.
Description:
The 2007 Festival runs from the 28 to the 30th of September.
The Romanian and foreign tourists and the resort’s inhabitants will have the opportunity to participate to a real cultural, historical, geographical and social “guide live”.
The Festival presents a rich programme of concerts of music, movie projections, evenings of repertoire and independent theatre, folkloric shows, handicraft, culinary, photography and cartoon exhibitions, fanfare, games and contests, awards, fireworks, sound and light shows organized in the most beautiful locations; all of these are the SINAIA FOREVER festival.
The Festival provides the general frame to create a perfect symbiosis between culture and civilization, on the one hand, and party and show, on the other hand.

12. “WINE” FESTIVAL

Date of organization: 29 - 30 September 2007
Location: Valea Calugareasca, Prahova County
Approaches:
Valea Calugareasca Parish is situated on DN1B (Highway) Ploiesti-Buzau, at 13 km from Ploiesti.
Description:
The idea of organizing a Wine Festival at Valea Calugareasca is not fortuitous. The city is the most important national centre of production and research in viticulture field in Prahova, being situated in the middle of the viticulture region “Dealu Mare”, also named “the land of red wines”. This is where premium wines such as: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Feteasca Neagra, Pinot Noir are produced.
The objectives proposed by the organizers were the promotion of the Romanian wines and the afferent industry, the exchange of experience and the direct contact between the wine producers and the specialists in the field, assessment of the manifestation as a traditional one and maybe with international connotations in the future, reactivation of some cultural markers and promotion of the local traditions and not lastly, redefinition of the agricultural-tourist concept in the context of a commercial development of the rural habitations.
The festival reunites, besides the grape vine growers from all over the country, other producers of fruits, vegetables, flowers, bee products and of course, the never failing popular craftsmen with wooden, willow, clay products. Famous Romanian interpreters of popular music, folkloric choirs, teams of popular, modern and even sport dance perform on the festival’s scene.

14. CLUJ MUSICAL AUTUMN (TOAMNA MUZICALA CLUJEANA)

Founded in 1955, Cluj State Philharmonic is one of the most important symphonic orchestra in Romania and with a well established international renown. Has been successfully in tours around the Europe and has participated in very important festivals in Lucerna, Bucuresti, Torino, Varsovia, Istanbul, Santander, Strasbourg, Bratislava, Berlin and Interlaken.
From 1965 Cluj State Philharmonic is organizing every year, in September, his own festival “Toamna Muzicala Clujeana" who is one of the most significant musical events in Romania. Prestigious musicians around the Europe gladly participate in this event like The King's Consort, Schubert Ensemble, Philharmonic Quartet from Vienna, Russian conductor Misha Katz, etc.

15. SCATTERING OF THE SHEEP (RAVASITUL OILOR)

Period : This event takes place yearly at the end of September
Location: The North of the County- Runcu Commune
Description: Every autumn the shepards descend from the mountains with their sheep in order to give them back to their owners, after they “wondered” in the mountains looking for the “rich grass”. It’s a moment of joy which people spend by songs, dance, party and tasty traditional food. The participant in the event are both the inhabitants of the commune and the near by communes.

16. NATIONAL FOLK CONTEST „THE MAN WITH A GUITAR”

Date: September, 2007
Organizers: Braila County Council and the County Centre for the Preservation and the Promotion of the Traditional Culture.

Location: The Youth House, situated on Calarasi Boulevard, in the centre of the city. Another place supposed to be used is the Danube's esplanade. The visitors can reach here using all means of transport, tram, buses (Number 4 and 10).

This contest comes as a result of the fact that Braila has always offered great folk singers, beginning with Nicu Alifantis, the most representative name in the field. All the entrants proved a high quality of their compositions, voices, musical technique and they made the jury's mission very hard: they had to choose the best! The recitals of singers like Ducu Bertzi, Victor Socaciu or Ada Milea made the public to dicover again the beauty of a music genre less promoted in our country.

17. STUFFED CABBAGE FESTIVAL

Description of the event: The International Stuffed Cabbage Festival is a unique event, specifically connected to the locality. Praid is a small village, located at the border of Harghita and Mures Counties, at the feet of Gurghiului Mountains. The Festival takes place in autumn, probably because of the harvesting of cabbages. The event has a 12 years background, starting with a conference focused on rural tourism, which took place on Praid; the idea of organizing a festival of cabbages was proposed by Mr. Alexandru Mironov, formal Youth and Sports Minister. He suggested founding a gastronomic event, where local and regional and foreign participants have the opportunity to compete on traditional cooking. The program includes performances of folk dance, folk musicians and a classical music concert, organized at the chapel of the famous salt mine in Praid.

19. Banat Radishes Festival, X edition
