The Murfatlar Vineyard was first mentioned in the writings of the Latin Poet Ovidiu, but actually was acknowledged since 1907. The sorts of wines produced by the Murfatlar vineyard, though can be found in other parts of Romania too, are the best, with a distinct flavour and taste given by the local soil and climate.

A strategy which has paid off. Murfatlar is now the number one wine exporter in the country and wins awards in international competitions. At world wine contests, the Murfatlar vintage has been awarded no less than 350 golden medals.
On the domestic market, where 80 percent of the wines are sweet, red and white, Murfatlar decided to launch a dry wine under the label "Sec de Murfatlar", with a New World marketing approach and a $400,000 promotion campaign.
Placed in the middle of the vineyards, in a charming natural setting, the tourist center of Murfatlar Vineyard offers the tourists unforgettable moments. Tasting the wines and delicious traditional cuisine gently blend with Romanian folklore music and dances.
